For Immediate Release – February 15, 2023 – Groton MA
Congresswoman Lori Trahan met with the Destination Groton Committee today to learn of its mission to promote Groton’s many attractions, increase local tax revenues, and maintain the Town’s quality of life.
“It was a pleasure to meet with the Destination Groton Committee to hear about the work they have done to drive tourism to Groton,” Congresswoman Trahan said. “I look forward to partnering with them as we continue to work to increase tourism across the region.” Representative Trahan added.
In his briefing for the Congresswoman, Greg Sheldon, Chair of Destination Groton, pointed to Groton’s extraordinary landscape, conservation space and trails, rivers, lakes, farms, orchards, a fascinating history with numerous historic buildings and sites, as well as a center for arts and culture through the centuries, and a quintessential New England Town Center.
“In recent years, the advent of new restaurants for fine dining and the restoration of the Groton Inn have contributed to enhancing Groton’s strongly positive “destination” reputation, Sheldon said. “The opening of Groton Hill Music Center will accelerate the pace and increase the geographic range of people coming to Groton,” Sheldon added.
After the briefing, Representative Trahan was given a guided tour by Groton Hill Music Center CEO Lisa Fiorentino. “I was so excited to finally get to see this incredible music education facility and performance venue located in the heart of the Third District,” Congresswoman Trahan said. “After taking the tour and hearing from Lisa, I am confident that this center will be an economic driver for the region and I look forward to returning for a concert.”
“We are so happy to have had the opportunity to show Representative Trahan this space that allows us to share the transformative power of music with an even wider community through our educational programs, great performances, and impactful community engagement,” said Groton Hill CEO Lisa Fiorentino. “We look forward to welcoming her back soon to experience some extraordinary music in our world-class concert halls.” CEO Fiorentino said.
