Destination Groton Receives $15,000 in State Funding for Trails

Senator Cronin Secures Funding in FY 24 State Budget

Groton, MA – Town Manager Mark Haddad announced the Town of Groton, through the Destination Groton Committee, will receive $15,000 in State funding dedicated to improving the Town’s vast Trail network. “The Town of Groton is grateful for the efforts of State Senator John Cronin to secure these funds in the State Budget”, Haddad stated.

“I am pleased to support the vision of Destination Groton and its mission to preserve and promote the many attractions Groton holds for both residents and visitors alike”, Senator Cronin said in a joint release. “Groton is known for its many scenic trails and I share in its pride,” the Senator said.

“We are excited by the state’s allocation of these funds for improving the experiences of walking, biking, and horseback riding along Groton’s trails,” Paul Funch, Chair of the Trails Committee said. “Groton’s 130 miles of trails connect citizens and visitors to its unique geological, historical, and natural features.  These funds provide us with an exceptional opportunity to enhance Groton’s trail infrastructure for the benefit of all,” Funch said.

“The Destination Groton Committee has been working to promote Groton and its many attractions while working to preserve the beauty and charm of the Town we all love”, Greg Sheldon, DGC Chair stated. “We are pleased to have the strong support of Senator Cronin and look forward to continue working with him in the future,” Sheldon said.
